Becoming an Olympian in 36 Hours
Less than a week before the start of the Women's Street Skateboarding competition, Annie Guglia was debating whether she would actually watch the event at all. The Canadian skateboarder had come agonisingly close to qualifying for Tokyo 2020, finishing just outside the top 20 by the final qualification event in Rome just a few weeks before.
Then the phone call came.
With barely three days notice, Annie found herself on a plane travelling from her hometown of Montreal all the way to Tokyo to compete in the inaugural Olympic Street Skateboarding event, joining the best skaters in the world and some of her closest friends in making Olympic and Skateboarding history.
